Stéphane Pompougnac’s tenth Hôtel Costes mix is no break from the norm, offering his reliable mix of downtempo electronica — low-key house, modern lounge music, and what would have — during the ‘90s — been termed trip-hop. As usual, there are tasteful touches of Brazilian and African music, as well as vocal jazz.

Pompougnac contributes his own “Sunday Drive,” while Laid Back provide something of a curiosity in “Happy Dreamer,” which updates — and drastically softens — their 1983/1984 club hit “White Horse.”
